RL Associates, Inc
RL Associates Inc. is a scientific research and development firm that contributes technological advances in two highly specialized areas of electro-optics: laser radar systems and optical design. RL Associates’ expert base includes capabilities in mechanical and electrical engineering and design, finite element analysis, testing, and prototyping. RL Associates’ mission is to provide their specialized expertise to a large array of products and developments by partnering with other science, DOD and commercial entities.
The team at RL Associates is currently developing a narrow-band optical filter. This filter is contained in a thick, volume holographic material that reduces the ambient background enabling optical signal detection by a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system.
RL Associates’ success in developing this filter technology has led to a commercial endeavor – FireLidar™. FireLidar™ is a portable LIDAR system for firefighters that allows them to see through glass, smoke, and flames, a technology unavailable until now. A physical, working prototype has been successfully designed and tested.
The technological advances developed by RL Associates have been sponsored by the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) programs of the United States Navy, The Department of Homeland Security and NASA and have numerous other applications including night vision, surveillance, search and rescue missions, and optical computing.

V System Composites, Inc
V System Composites, Inc. (VSC) is a small, high technology company which serves as a provider of “Engineered Composite Solutions” for aerospace, defense and commercial applications. We design, manufacture, and assemble structural components using graphite and other fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composite materials based on proprietary and patent-pending design and manufacturing processes. VSC was founded in 1999 by Mike Louderback, President and General Manager, and was acquired by DR Technologies, Inc., San Diego, CA, as a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2000.

VSC employs about 40 engineers and manufacturing technicians at its Anaheim, CA operations, and plans to further expand its capabilities with its new Chester, PA facility. The University Technology Park office was set up as an East coast operations facility to support customers in this region of the U.S. market through both program interface and direct engineering support.

PolyMedix
PolyMedix is a biotechnology company that is developing novel, synthetic small molecule compounds that mimic the activity of large natural proteins; compounds referred to as biomimetics. PolyMedix focuses on creating new therapeutic drugs to meet unmet medical needs for treatment of serious, life threatening, acute disorders, including our initial programs involving new drug treatments for infectious diseases and acute cardiovascular disorders. Using its proprietary computational drug design technology, PolyMedix has created novel antibiotic and heptagonist drug compounds and plans to file Investigational New Drug (IND) applications with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for each of these product candidates during the first quarter of 2008.
