The Delaware County Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) is pleased to announce its newest strategic partnership with the Chester County Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ). The partnership has received funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and over the next 18 months, among other activities, will focus on assisting current and potential KIZ companies in the following areas:
The ultimate goal of this project is to collaboratively promote partnerships, support entrepreneurship and commercialization efforts of Chester County and Delaware County companies and universities. Part of such collaboration includes actively promoting availability of resources, space, benefits and activities that serve a company's needs where they are located or desire to locate. Initially, assistance to companies via the partnership will be accomplished via a request for proposal issued to all current and potential companies doing business in either the Delaware County KIZ or Chester County KIZ. Additional information concerning the RFP will be issued by end of 2010.
Other benefits of this strategic partnership could include training and opportunities for companies to avail themselves to expertise to improve the knowledge and performance of the incumbent workforce.
Designated as a Keystone Innovation Zone in January 2007, the CCKIZ is a powerful initiative that is aligning and rallying the area's best resources to support growing life-science, bio-technology, information technology, and energy companies. Since its inception the CCKIZ has served more than 30 companies which, in turn, have created more than 200 new jobs. The CCKIZ encourages entrepreneurs to begin, grow and stay in Pennsylvania through facilitation of strong and productive working relationships between the academic centers of innovation, private businesses, business support organizations, commercial lending institutions, venture capital networks, angel investors and foundations. Currently, the zone serves 20 companies throughout 7 distinct nodes (containing a total of 51 corporate park and university locations) located along the Route 202 and 100 corridors from Goshen Township through the Greater Exton area, with locations in Great Valley in the heart of the region's bioscience and technology corridor.
